Born in Beijing, she studied acting at the Film School in the same city. Having graduated, she rapidly shot to fame for her parts in several TV series and in the cinema. Her career took a different direction on writing, directing and producing her first feature film, My Father and I, which earned her not only recognition in her country, but also abroad, at festivals such as those of Toronto or Tokyo. Letter from An Unknown Woman is her second feature film as a director and screenwriter.
