The Japanese version will probably discourage a lot of people, but it takes not to long to get used to reading the subtitles. And that way you can follow the story with the original voices and words.

Good readability. Every way you will have to follow them if you want to enjoy the story.

Nice. The menu is really short, because you can only start or choose one episode, but its animation is good and funny.
quality/price ration
Video cassettes would give exactly the same as the DVDs, because there are no extras but DVDs are more interesting. Also if you only have a small interactivity. And for the price, why should you hesitate to long.
